Even if we follow the creation story, we see that God started with the heavens and the earth and followed up with fishes, plants and animals before creating man. This took a biblical week. But a day was not necessarily a 24hour day. It could have been a thousand year day, maybe more. But it was days; it didn’t happen all at once. First things first. In the beginning was a consciousness that was aware of what He was doing. So, consciousness was there at the beginning before Man. Was it in the stars, the sun and the earth? Was it in the light of day? Was it in the fishes, plants and animals? How can a rock be conscious? Is the consciousness of creation a singular thing? Is creation a singular thing? We as humans are no more physiologically than the sum of our parts. Trees are no more botanically than the sum of their parts. The solar system is no more cosmically than the sum of its parts. It seems that each entity is the sum of its parts. So, creation is surely a sum of its parts.
