Lets do the Math

>Let’s do the math.

The mystery of the universe is less about what we observe than it is about how did it all begin and what’s out there beyond it all. The incalculable coalescence of matter that we know of our universe is contrasted by this matter’s constituent subatomic particles that defy our inspection or ability to measure. We are situated somewhere in the middle of this vast existence without an absolute indisputable explanation of the beginning or the end or even how we exist at all. And yet here we are, living, breathing, observing an absolutely glorious world of self-sustaining, balanced existence.

I think there is a common sense explanation supported by simple math that can be accepted by scientist and theologians alike. This does not trivialize the intricacy of the cosmic laws of existence or the reasons for existence, but lays a foundation of logic that allows an explanation of how it all began and a notion of how something can come from nothing. If we can believe that the truth of existence is already there just waiting for us to realize it, then it is also easy to believe that the truth of existence that we validate every day in our own observations at whatever level of understanding is that same truth. In other words, we may learn more about how it works, but we already know that it works.

Let’s do the math.

When we quantify nothingness, we establish the numeric value of zero. At the quantum level this represents a void in the space/ time continuum that scientists call dark energy. They speculate about it but cannot quantify it because it has a value of zero. There is no measurable matter or energy. Zilch. It is perfectly balanced in its neutrality. The concept of here and there is the same, so there is no distance between them, there is no kinetic activity so there is not before and after, no time lapse to measure. There is only potential. Potential for an existence. Potential for a big bang. Potential for a spark of conscious will to create a disturbance in the void, a wave in the calm sea of nothingness.  This void is infinite in its potential, because it has no time or distance boundaries.

So, how can this void have potential for existence if it has a value of zero? Potential energy that we know is a ball on top of a hill or a certain mass waiting to roll down the hill, electrons stored in a battery waiting for a connection to be made, releasing the electrons. These things that we observe, balls made of atoms, electrons in a battery, etc., are forms of energy and matter that we know are made of positive and negative charged particles, and photons, etc. At some fundamental level, (a level that we are just beginning to understand and measure), there are these positive and negative charges that define the void. If these fundamental charges remain suspended in isolation in dark matter in equal numbers, then their net value would be zero. +1-1=0. The positive and negative charges cancel each other out leaving nothing to measure, nothing to observe.

If a disturbance in this void of dark matter allows positive and negative charges to emerge in equal numbers and coalesce into matter and energy that we can observe and measure, the net value of the dark matter field resolves to zero and remains balanced. So long as the number of positive and negative charges remain equal in number there is no limit to the value of these charges while retaining a net neutral, zero value in this proliferation. If these positive and negative charges are the foundational components of our known existence, i.e. Photons, neurons, plank length, quarks etc., this explains how from nothing, matter and energy could proliferate and form our universe. There is no limit of place or time until these charges proliferate, and then a space/ time relationship begins and the cosmic controls of gravity, electromagnetic and nuclear forces take hold. So long as the proliferation remains balanced the underlying net value of existence remains zero. So, at every level of existence i.e. the atomic structure, molecules, cells, DNA, plant and animal organism, eco systems, planetary systems, solar systems, galaxies and even the universe at large, the balance in this neutrality is foundational to existence. We all understand the concept of balance. It is intuitive to everyone that existence tends towards balance in all that we observe. I.e, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. We look for balance as a stabilizing force in our lives. It is logical that balance would manifest in all parts of existence.

So, now, the big question; where did the positive and negative charges come from? Remember, the math is simple. They come from nothing. Something from nothing, right? This is the big question. One plus charge and one minus charge is still zero. When time and distance are not in play, the question of which came first is no longer in play there is no before and after. Only when these charges emerge from the void do the cosmic laws control a cause-and-effect interaction that creates an arrow of time that defines our existence.

But what caused the disturbance that set this whole existence in motion? Sorry, I can’t take sides here. It really doesn’t matter what or who caused the disturbance, though it does test our rational intellect to suppose that this is all accidental. But, could it have been a random synapse that found a balanced, perpetuating footing in the cosmic forces?  I leave you to your own beliefs.
